WMG Founded

Waste Management Group, Inc. was founded by Peter Tuite with two other partners in October of 1979, with the goal of getting into the radioactive waste management and software industry. However, in the first year they lost $100,000, causing the other two partners to pull out. Peter however was undeterred and was able to land a contract with Three Mile island. This put Waste Management Group, Inc. on the map and allowed for future growth. Soon after, the company’s name was shortened to WMG, inc. to avoid confusion with competitors.
