- WMG’s RADMAN™ and MegaShield™ Deployed at Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard and Intermediate Maintenance Facility | WMG, Inc.
< Back WMG’s RADMAN™ and MegaShield™ Deployed at Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard and Intermediate Maintenance Facility Sep 30, 2025 It’s a privilege to support the U.S. Navy in repairing, maintaining, and modernizing its fleet. WMG is proud to announce that its RADMAN™ and MegaShield™ software platforms have been successfully deployed at Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard and Intermediate Maintenance Facility (PHNSY & IMF). RADMAN™ has been previously approved by the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC). RADMAN™ supports the characterization, classification, and shipment of radioactive materials and waste, while MegaShield™ provides shielding analysis, dose rate modeling, packaging configuration, and transport planning. Together, these tools help facilities streamline compliance, improve traceability, and strengthen radioactive materials and waste management practices. This deployment at PHNSY & IMF provides a model that can facilitate adoption of RADMAN™ and MegaShield™ at other shipyards supporting the Navy’s mission to repair, maintain, and modernize its fleet. PHNSY & IMF is the latest example of WMG software being deployed at a facility requiring proven provenance in radioactive waste management software, consistent with WMG’s RADMAN™ and MegaShield™ software use across the U.S. commercial nuclear power sector, including 92 of 94 operating nuclear plants, all active decommissioning projects, and the West Valley Department of Energy (DOE) site. For over 40 years, WMG has been the commercial nuclear industry standard in delivering field-tested and industry-trusted software solutions that help both government and commercial users achieve safe, compliant, and efficient radioactive materials and waste management. RADMAN™ and MegaShield™ are supported by WMG’s established QA program and comprehensive Verification and Validation (V&V) processes, aligned with NQA-1 and industry regulatory standards. RADMAN™, which has been approved by the NRC, continues to be the software of choice for commercial nuclear plants. With its deployment at PHNSY & IMF, RADMAN™ and MegaShield™ are now supporting radioactive materials and waste management at one of four public shipyards. Previous Next
- Infrastructure Upgrades | WMG, Inc.
< Back Infrastructure Upgrades Oct 12, 2022 Striving for Continuous Improvement As cybersecurity threats evolve, and in an effort to continuously improve performance and capabilities, we routinely evaluate and upgrade the environment that powers RADMAN™, FME Guardian™, REACh™ and all of our other software products. In late October, we will be migrating all services, websites, and databases to new equipment. The new servers will increase processor core/thread density, increase SSD-RAID storage pools, update operating systems, and add support for stronger, FIPS Compliant encryption as recommended by NIST-800 Rev2. An approximately four-hour window will be planned during off-hours for the transition period. We do not expect any disruption of service, and certainly do not expect the transition to take that long; however, for planning purposes, please note the migration timeframe that will be communicated. This upgrade significantly adds to our backup and recovery capability, quadrupling our total backup pool, allowing years of hourly backups before storage capacity becomes a concern. In addition, new, more powerful processing servers allow us to move more of the intensive functions of RADMAN™, and the planned Reporting Portal into the cloud for better performance and faster calculations. The added performance, storage, monitoring and security capabilities of the new infrastructure will allow us to focus on building a strong platform for RADMAN™ 10 and all of our future software products. Once we have completed the coordination and scheduling, a detailed notification will be distributed to all RADMAN ™ Users. Previous Next

Developed in collaboration with the U.S. Census Bureau, the EHS represents a significant expansion of the 2022 Commodity Flow Survey (CFS). This innovative dataset incorporates supplemental questions and new self-reported data from hazardous materials (hazmat) shippers utilizing DOT-regulated specification packaging. The EHS provides critical insights into key areas, including the types of hazardous materials shipped, packaging specifications, quantities and weights, and the primary modes of transportation. The availability of this data marks a pivotal step forward in advancing public safety, supporting first responders, and enabling data-driven decision-making. By offering a more comprehensive understanding of hazmat flows, the EHS is expected to inform risk assessments, enhance mitigation strategies, and promote research aimed at improving safety outcomes. To further support the effective use of this experimental data product, OHMS is pleased to announce the release of additional resources. These resources include a new User Guidance Document to help users better understand and utilize the data for informed decision making. You can access this new resource online here: https://rosap.ntl.bts.gov/view/dot/82010 . Additional helpful materials are coming soon: Tutorials : Instructional videos will be made available in the future to assist users in navigating the dataset, understanding its structure, and leveraging its insights. Data Visualizations : OHMS is developing a series of visual tools to highlight key trends and observations derived from the data. These visualizations will be accessible on the PHMSA website to facilitate user engagement and understanding. This initiative underscores OHMS’s commitment to advancing hazardous materials safety through transparency, innovation, and collaboration. Stakeholders are encouraged to monitor the PHMSA website for updates and to explore the EHS dataset as a valuable resource for enhancing safety and decision-making in the hazmat sector. For more information and to access the dataset, please visit the PHMSA website. Together, we can work toward a safer and more informed future. Request for Proposal: Risk Assessment for HAZMAT Packages in an Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) Environment The RD&T program published a Request for Proposal titled “Risk Assessment for HAZMAT Packages in an Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) Environment.” The RFP seeks out expertise, capabilities, and experience to evaluate the safety performance of existing dangerous goods packaging requirements in an unmanned aerial systems (UAS) environment. The work will account for operational conditions specific to the carriage of dangerous goods via UAS, the corresponding hazards, the safety performance of existing packaging standards, and will identify appropriate risk mitigation measures. It will also identify potential hazards associated with malfunctions of UAS package containment systems at various cruise altitudes, up to 400 feet above ground level (AGL), which could drop items during transit, inadvertently. More information on how to submit a proposal can be found at the link below or interested parties can search and find the information from the SAM.gov home page, by selecting "Contract Opportunities" and searching by the RFP number 693JK325R0002.
